  • Authoritative and Consultative Management
  • The Jug Principle – understanding and managing people and processes
  • Structured Communication in the workplace
  • Time Management
  • What (cultural) diversity is and how it affects relationships and behaviour
  • The difference between Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution
  • Dealing with Conflict – where conflict comes from and how to deal with it
  • Being Assertive versus being Aggressive

13h00 – 13h45 Lunch

13h45 – 16h00 Leadership Session
  • Defining Leadership
  • Creative Leadership – Qualities of effective Leaders
  • Leadership Myths
  • The difference between Management and Leadership
  • The cycle of leadership failure / the cycle of leadership success
  • Individual Self-Assessment of Personal Leadership Qualities – verbally shared with the group

16h00 – 16h15 Break

16h15 – 18h30 DI-AD Team Building Session – approx 2 hours

Individual communication exercise during which each shares the strengths and weaknesses of the others in the group on a one-to-one basis. Each delegate then summarises his/her feedback to the group, outlining what they are valued for and what their colleagues think they should change in order to be more effective.

Day 2

08h00  to 10h00    Focus Session
  • Participlan what needs to be changed/improved within the Organisation within the next three months
  • Vote (using participlan voting process) which of the ‘block’ areas or areas of concern are highest priority now
  • Appoint Individuals or Task Teams to drive the solutions identified where applicable. If this process has already taken place, then the individuals responsible for the improvements will be asked to give feedback on what has been done and what changes have taken place.

10h00  to 10h30        Break

10h30  -  13h00    Individual Planning Session

This session embodies each person’s commitment to the Organisation and each delegate will prepare a PowerPoint presentation (4 slides) comprising the following points:

  • Overall objective of his/her Job Function (One sentence)
  • Achievements within Job Function during 2007 (bulleted)
  • Overall Objectives to be achieved within their Job Function during 2008 (bulleted)  (2nd slide)
  • Clear specific objectives that will be achieved within their Job Function during the next 3 months  -  this will include specifics that emerged during the Focus Session.  (3rd Slide)
  • Changes they will make to their Management and Leadership resulting from this seminar. (4th slide)

13h00  -  13h45        Lunch

13h45  -  16h00    Individual Presentations

Each manager will make their presentations to the group. These presentations are commitments from each individual to the group, and form the basis of each one’s accountability.

16h00  -  16h15        Break

16h15  to  17h00    Feedback Session

Each will verbally share their answers to the following questions:-

  • What have been the most valuable aspect of this seminar?
  • What general comments would you like to make about this seminar?
  • Set Assessment date for Follow Up
